Day of the Departure...

Day 01
Margao, Goa

The day is running perfectly on schedule. I'm not tired though I hardly slept 2 hours last night. I'm a little anxious though, as im unaware of what lies ahead in Delhi. as I've left for the train station, I remeber that i've forgotten to say bye to the dogs....well i'll see them soon anyway.

The train departs 20 mins late, and as soon as I'm out of Goa, I'm already missing people. The scene outside my window is green and still feels like i'm in Goa. I start work on writing the environmental book concept note, make a few calls and stare into the blankness outside the train. I'm finally falling asleep at Roha at 9pm and dreaming by the time Panvel comes around midnight...

Delhi is dirty and a pig of a city.

Like every other Indian city, the air is polluted. Not to mention, the various stray animals that come with the territory.

The horse drawn rickshaws only worsen the situation.

The high speed train between Delhi and Agra is nice. This is a tourist train though so you get the good stuff.

Cab prices can be the shit and ain't predictable.

The area surrounding the Taj Mahal and Agra is pretty much the same. Bums everywhere.

The view from the Agra Red Fort is great and you get to see the Taj Mahal from a distance.

I took a cab and headed directly to the Taj and Agra (from the train station). Signing up for a whole day touristy trip may be a trap.
